About

Driving the growth and direction of the design department in Sydney since 2016, our Design Manager Levi Carter made the decision to relocate to Auckland to be closer to his wife’s family.

This decision led to the opportunity for Fifth Season Landscapes to expand its business to the New Zealand market, where it has now been operating since 2023 in the residential design realm.

The business offers a unique service in this space, with Levi’s experience in both design and construction having helped him develop a design approach that focuses on both high quality design, but also a careful consideration of build method, budget and function to benefit both client and contractor.

Growth of the business through development of strong, long term relationships with like minded contractors and suppliers, along with a continual desire to learn more about the New Zealand market, remains a focus, as the company looks to offer a unique skillset to our new clientele.

Always interested in design, the idea of being able to combine the built form with the natural environment as a landscape architect was something that instantly appealed.

Having studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Western Australia and graduated back in 2008, Levi has over 15 years of experience focused on design and construction in the residential realm, where the creation of personal spaces for individual clients provides him real job satisfaction.

“A childhood spent in the beautiful West Australian outdoors as part of a big, social family, along with extensive travel around the world, really helped me develop an appreciation for outdoor living. Now I love to translate that passion into the design of tailor made spaces for our clients to enjoy in the same way.

I always look to nature for inspiration. As a family we love spending plenty of time outside, and it’s in these spaces, whether it be bush or coastal walks, public gardens or parklands, where you see what really works and thrives. With New Zealand’s incredible tapestry of plant life, natural beauty and seasonal variance, and many clients desire to really connect with this, I find drawing on these spaces helps drive my designs.

I believe balancing the natural elements with the structural components of a garden is the key to producing a beautiful, functional space that enriches the lives of it’s users, and it’s something we strive for on each and every project.”
