The Brief
This large, level site was lacking a sense of arrival and scale within the front yard, as well as a strong connection from the garden to the north facing lounge and living areas. Creating a functional outdoor entertaining area off the house, and providing additional screening and privacy to the garden, without impacting the overall sense of space were key considerations.
The Concept
The new front fence and gate design coupled with formal evergreen planting behind was aimed to provide the right balance of street appeal and privacy. The large setback of the house afforded the opportunity to incorporate large format paving linking driveway to new alfresco space, while still maintaining a large open lawn area for this young family to enjoy. Expansive steps radiate out from the new alfresco deck to link garden to house, with a covered cooking and dining area and sunken seating space connecting inside to out, and providing comfortable year round outdoor entertaining for family and friends.
