3D Design in Landscape Architecture

With more and more design firms now delivering comprehensive 3D renders and animations to their clients, we take a quick look at the benefits of this tool, and how it can assist in the decision making, budgeting and construction of a project.

Before committing to the overhaul of an outdoor area, and the significant financial investment that’s associated with this, we think it’s important that our clients have the best possible understanding of what’s proposed.

For this reason at Fifth Season the design team has worked hard over the last few years to develop the 3D components of their design package, in order to utilise this innovative tool to inform our clients throughout their journey with us.

It can be difficult to picture the overall vision by simply looking at 2D plans and associated imagery. While these aspects of the concept package are important, the ability to immerse clients in their new garden before it’s actually built is equally crucial.. and now possible!

Accompanying more traditional concept drawings with 3D perspectives and a fly through animation can bring the scheme to life, allowing it’s viewers to understand the connections between spaces, pick up on key views, materials and design details incorporated, and most importantly envisage how these areas will transform their day to day lives.

This tool also provides clarity and direction from the concept phase through to construction. The level of detail delivered within aspects of a 3D package paves the way for constructive discussions around the numerous design decisions needing to be made throughout the process.

What style of garden do you want to achieve?

What planting palette do you want to create?

How do the outdoor areas connect with your house?

How will natural light interact with the design?

What colour will my pool water be with these tiles?

How will my new garden look from our first floor terrace?

Questions like the above can be easily answered within the 3D modelling phase, with these tools helping to drive the initial concept direction, while also assisting with decision making around those finer details of your space prior to construction commencement.

To see what can be achieved, take a look at the animation below.
